Peter Li Preti's Voting Record:

Votes supporting the community position: 2
Votes against the community position: 3

In one of the most closely contested elections, incumbent Peter Li Preti narrowly defeated Anthony Perruzza, a former NDP provincial MPP. This is the most ethnically diverse area of the city, with high levels of poverty, policing and social problems. The low voter turnout suggests that the citizens have given up on City Hall. The reason might be Li Preti. He is a strong law and order man. Li Preti opposes childcare subsidies; efforts to keep swimming pools open and voted to keep the homeless off the streets. In the last election VoteToronto found his voting record on the community position one of the worst on council and he has begun this term in similar fashion. Li Preti was a member of the 'Keep the Chief' campaign to renew the contract of Police Chief Julian Fantino.

Peter Li Preti is on the Economic Development and Parks Committee, the Nominating Committee and the Toronto Transit Commission.

Demographically, this is a ward of extremes, with the lowest average household income in the city ($43,615, compared to the city-wide average of $69,125), highest rate of low-income families (35.4%), second-highest rate of single-parent families (30.4%), and second-highest rate of first-generation immigrants in the city (79.8%).
